Erin Solaro, a Seattle PI blogger who writes on politics and culture for a column called, "The Woman Citizen," may have surprised -- or maybe didn't -- some feminist (is that really a realtive term anymore?) readers with her Aug. 7 essay:

"For a law-abiding citizen to bear personal arms is an act of civilization.

"Not just an act of self-defense or an act in defense of civilization, but an act of civilization.
