15 Signs of Spring
At long last, it's April and if you look hard, Spring is everywhere. By now, most of these 15 signs are there to be seen.
At long last, it's April and if you look hard, Spring is everywhere. By now, most of these 15 signs are there to be seen. 1. That Very First Gobble Yes, turkeys gobble all year long, but if you listen carefully enough you'll hear a discernible difference in tonality. Spring, hen-gathering, territoriality gobbling, sounds very different than fall pecking-order and shock gobbling. Step outside just at sunrise on those first warmth-promising days of winter and you'll hear it. There's nothing that quite beats hearing that first gobble of spring.

» Write a CommentIf I'm not an avid outdoorsman, I'm an avid sports fan! I can't wait for baseball season! I just broke out the ball and glove today for the first time. I'ts quite odd playing catch among snow. I know what you mean Phillip. I just ditch the skates for the roller skates. I didn't find one shed this year AND didn't hear a gooble yet. I guess I will soon hopefully. I spent a whole afternoon searching for sheds with no luck. Maybe soon...
To much snow. Have gotten over 5 ft. Can't wait for spring.
For sure spring is here when the crane migration passes over town. Next year I am going to string claymores around that groundhog den!
spring can wait a little longer because i play hockey outside and i do not to stop yet
The Spring Peepers always do it for me. Redwing Blackbirds, then Robins, and of course, Baseball!
Have over 70 inches for the season here! getting more next week
I am very blessed, my daughter would not be caught dead wearing something like that. She is 23, beautiful, and it looks like my wife and I got it right. She is a college graduate and I am proud of her. SO to all of the rest of you it can be done, consistency is the key. Not all kids will follow the crowd.
@jcarlin keep fighting the good fight, sir.
I've managed to keep mine from wearing any kind of writing on their backsides, and anything suggestive anywhere. I'm having a mild disagreement with my wife about letting my younger one, who's into dance and singing, wear T-shirt that say things like "Drama Queen" and "Part Time Diva". I don't think the world or my household, need any more of those.
OMG please come faster spring. Covered in 30 inches of snow here in South Jersey. Not fun at all
Jcarlin, I was amused by the shirt because I thought an editor would have caught that....
And from what a lot of young girls are wearing, apparently a lot of daddies are not paying attention.
I didn't notice it until your post Captain. I wasn't trying to indicate offense, just pointing out that daddy probably wasn't proud. I was actually amused with the Tshirt becuase it's out there, but wasn't as obvious as just having the numerals. Does that honestly mean I was the first to notice. I wonder what drew my eye?
You are right Eric. There is no way that photo was altered after someone realized the meaning of the print on the shirt... and by the way, Elvis is still alive, I have an extra-terrestrial staying in my guest room and Bill Gates just filed for bankruptcy.
@TheCaptain I don't know what you're talking about, that was definitely not photoshopped... These are not the droids you're looking for... :)
Jcarlin, did you notice that the editors have now photoshopped the image of the young lady in the brown shirt?
Looks like they caught on to what you saw!
Oh, and for me, it will not be spring until all of this stinkin' snow is gone.
I can't wait to hear those first gobbles from a ridge somewhere to know that spring has arrived.Around march 21st you can go out and hear an old gobbler sounding off here in WV I can't wait.
Where I am in ohio, Is about to get pounded by another winter snow tomorrow ... 6-10 inchs i believe in 24 hours Hurray for us .. Hurry up Spring !!!!!!!!
Meadowlarks returning lets me know that spring has sprung.
May my daughter never get caught in pictures wearing such a shirt.
For me it's that first high sky day. Always makes me want to break out a baseball glove and have a catch, and fishing on one of those late winter/early spring days where you're wearing short sleeves in the sun on the boat but the breeze still has a cold bite from the water and the shady banks.
I can't wait for that bigjake
Never wish for time pass. Make the best with what time you have now.
The trout opener in early April.I also look forward to picking Fiddlehead greens shortly after.
at my school we have a cold weather uniform and a warm weather uniform. When Spring comes we get to wear a polo shirt, which is more comfortable. As for the Outdoors it has to be when i start to hear the birds (which you mentioned)^^
Thanks much, but you neglected to tell us your favorite spring harbinger? Everybody's just gotta have one! What's yours?
Lucky you bigjake, i do have off from school though
Gerry you are right, but its coming but not fast enough.lol this is a well done segmant though nice job
Snowing here today, but I dont think we're in for the storm that hit some states.
Keep the faith, my friend...forgot to mention that the Harrisburg Sportsman's Show is another sure sign that spring is on its way!
I got over 2 feet of snow yesterday, although it would be nice, here in PA Spring is not close enough for me
