Surviving the Game - a bunch of rich guys trick a street person into going into the mountains for a hunt with them. He doesn't know it but he is the game. Gary Busey, Rutger Hauer, Ice-T.

Best survival movie of all time is "Man in the Wilderness" (1971). Based on true story, Zachary Bass is left for dead after being mauled by grizzly, but lives to confront those who abandomed him.

Going by this list, as far as pure survival you would have to include "Home Alone." But my favorites are Jeremiah Johnson and as someone mentioned earlier, "Southern Comfort."

The Expendables. Even though it wasn't a survival movie, it was still pretty awesome.

How did "A Cry in the Wild" make this list as one of the "greatest" survival movies? My kids had this at one time. We all thought it was so awful that we threw it away. The bear that got stabbed squirted ketchup, for Pete's sake!

The Edge is amazing!! Deliverance is the only movie EVER to creep me out. Don't like Redford much but I love to see Utah in the background of the entire film he's in.

The Dick Proenneke documentary is very good. Jerimiah Johnson is probably my favorite movie. I guess if you include First Blood, you might consider Southern Comfort.

A movie called "The Bear". It's about a bear cub that becomes orphaned, and it's trials. Also, how about "War of the Worlds"?

Zombieland. That show broke it down into the rules, and application of those rules. Very educational.

Dmheitman.... I have seen that documentary a few times on PBS. It is amazing what one man accomplished on his own. I believe he was around 50 years of age when he did that on his own.

It was not a movie, but a documentary "Alone in the Wilderness". It is about Dick Proenneke going out into the Alaskan Bush in 1967 and building a cabin with his own hands, hunting and gathering food while filming it all. It is amazing! Our local PBS station shows it every time they do fundraising.
